TopCan I pick it up at Nita or one of the breweries?
No. Although we would love to be able to do this, it is against the liquor laws that we have to agree to for licensing. We heard you loud and clear in our holiday 2018 beer pack but some things are beyond our control. But we have found another way for people to pick up these great beer packs … read on
TopWhat happens if I show up at Nita and complain about not being able to pick up a box even though I can see them in Nita's manufacturing space?
Depends who is at the front counter. If it's Kevan, he will be polite but he may give you a funny face if you rant for too long about it. If Brendan's there, he will smile but then begin to talk about his favourite brews from near and away. If Bridget's there, she might begin to rant herself. If Andy's there he might say … laws, what laws?
TopWhere can I pick one up at a store? I don't want to get it mailed to me.
Yes, we found an answer to the pick up problem. Our friends at The Beer Store have worked us to be able to sell these boxes at select locations. We will start with a limited number of Ontario stores and then expand to more stores in Ontario. Check out this Beer Store page and our Instagram posts to see new stores where the box is available.
TopWho is Operation Come Home and why are they a delivery partner for Ottawa?
Because they are awesome! They work as hard as we do to get the beer out the door. Check out their website to see the programs that they have going onto help youth at risk.
TopWhy would Nita want to do this?
Ottawa has an awesome beer scene … Ontarians need to drink this beer.
TopWhy The Beer Store?
Because despite their reputation for being big beer, they are actually trying to be craft friendly. When we approached them about this idea, they came back with a way forward that made sense - flexible and cost-effective and it only took two days to figure it out!
TopCan I have my picture taken with the box?
Weird questions but Yes … watch for photo ops wherever we go to get your picture #inthebox!.
TopThe story behind the box
Ontario craft is booming more and breweries are popping up all of the time giving beer lovers and connoisseurs lots of choice. This is a fantastic environment for consumers and for beer innovation. We are seeing lots of new beer fans emerge and start to enjoy Ontario Craft.
Breweries are regularly producing new and fantastic beers but relying on distributing directly out of their storefront. For most breweries, success needs more beer lovers to become aware of the brewery, try their beers and hopefully take time out for a visit. But many large distribution channels are costly, difficult to penetrate or move at the pace of molasses. How can breweries, especially smaller brewers, be innovative to match consumer wants while also developing the awareness and recognition of the market to help grow their business? One answer: Together. Ottawa is booming with breweries and beer innovation. Ontario needs to notice. Nita offered a multi-brewer 24 pack in 2018 and people told us they wanted more. We got lots of great feedback so this time we are trying to do even better.
Although beer lovers want to support craft, it can be hard for folks to visit individual breweries and try the many beers a brewery has to offer. Also, it is hard for individual breweries to get their beer closer to lots of consumers because of the challenges mentioned above. However, with the help of The Beer Store and lots of coordination among our brewery friends, we can bring many beers to our beer fans without exorbitant costs in this multi-brewer pack.
We are hoping that fans may find a new beer or a new brewery that they would like to visit and become one of its newest fans. We asked one important thing from our brewery partners: provide us a great beer that you are only selling from your retail or through bars/restaurants. We want people to explore all of the brewery offerings and hopefully discover something unexpected from a brewery that they’ve never heard of.
Why The Beer Store? Because they made it easy. We asked what we could do with our fellow breweries and they presented a way forward that made sense – fast, flexible and cost-effective. The Beer Store is a great supporter of craft beer and this is one way that they are showing it. This exclusive seasonal offering will only be available until the end of June or while supplies last. You can only purchase the mixed pack from select Beer Stores or online for delivery from nitabeer.com. If you find a beer that you love, it can be purchased from each respective brewery.
Enjoy the journey of exploring some of the many beers that the Ottawa-area has to offer and find a new favourite #inthebox. We hope that you tell us that you want more of these multi-brewer packs (#wewantcraftbeer) so we can continue to bring a taste of Ottawa to beer fans in Ontario.
